The LP1600 is a new 1 x N fiber-optic switch. Combining performance, quality, and affordability, it is ideal for fiber-optic component test and measurement, remote fiber test systems, and fiber network monitoring. This switch is available in quantities as few as a dozen. This offers OEM customers a viable alternative to the larger manufacturers of competitive switches, who often have large minimum orders.

The opto-mechanical switch is based on a hollow, retro-reflecting mirror. This design results in faster step times from channel to channel and lower insertion loss. Product configuration can be designed from a 1 x 2 up to a 1 x 100,depending on customer needs. The switch is smaller than competitive switches, while demonstrating impressive switching speeds, high tolerance to vibration and high reliability. Physical design consists of a housing (148W x 34D x 80H mm) with a single input channel, and a moving mirror apparatus that can direct the fiber optic signal to any one of the output channels.

The switch also includes the company's collimators. The collimators provide high coupling efficiency and are produced with the company's laser fusion technology, which bonds the fiber end directly to the optical center of the lens, eliminating a significant source of performance loss.
