These 10-Gb/s transceivers provide a unique cost-effective solution for high-data-rate short-reach fiber-optic links, including those between network equipment within a central office. They feature extremely small form factors (0.25" square) and low power consumption (<1.25 W per pair) with telecom quality, reliability, and performance (BER of 10-15). In addition, they are inherently low cost because they are based on a unique VCSEL technology and can be operated without cooling elements, external modulators, or optical isolators.
