VPItransportMaker™ is a network planning and optimization tool for SONET/SDH, Optical Ring, Optical Mesh and hybrid networks, with Ultra Long Haul (ULH) and Wavelength Routing and Assignment (WRA) capabilities. Sophisticated algorithms optimize the topology based on traffic patterns and volumes and physical layer constraints like duct layout and fiber routing. To ensure high network availability, several protection and restoration options are supported. Analysis functions evaluate the planning results, to verify computations based on predefined specifications, including installed transmission and multiplex links. Results are presented as relational flat files, XML files, text documents and tab activated Excel spreadsheets with histograms and pie charts.

VPItransportMaker™ is a network planning and optimization tool for SONET/SDH, Optical Ring, Optical Mesh and hybrid networks, with Ultra Long Haul (ULH) and Wavelength Routing and Assignment (WRA) capabilities. Sophisticated algorithms optimize the topology based on traffic patterns and volumes and physical layer constraints like duct layout and fiber routing. To ensure high network availability, several protection and restoration options are supported. Analysis functions evaluate the planning results, to verify computations based on predefined specifications, including installed transmission and multiplex links. Multilayer modeling capabilities capture the complexities of SONET/SDH and optical transport hierarchies to the desired level of detail. Design Assistants automate the planning process for leased line networks. Graphic editing features help the designer to insert nodes, links, equipment and demands to define the network map and specify parametric options such as lambda conversion locations and traffic handling restrictions. Detailed network design results are calculated including link capacities, equipment lists by node, assigned wavelength slots, the number of WDM systems and associated optical amplifiers and regenerators. Results are presented as relational flat files, XML files, text documents and tab activated Excel spreadsheets with histograms and pie charts. Interfaces to 3rd party tools, algorithms and OSS are facilitated with XML files, relational flat files and algorithm APIs. These tools streamline the network planning process to reduce investment and operational costs, while improving service quality and flexibility.
