Model LDC-3916 Multi-Channel Laser Diode Controller provides up to 16 channels of laser diode current source and temperature control in a space-saving, 3U-high instrument. A variety of new, "smart" controller, current source, and TEC modules are available. These include controller modules with 500 mA, 1 A, or 1.5 A of laser current source with 9 W of TEC control; dual laser current source modules with two isolated currents of up to 1 A; and dual TEC modules. Resistive heater control adapters are available for temperature controllers. Additional module types are under development.

Each module is powered by a fully independent, isolated power supply designed to deliver unparalleled stability and flexibility. High compliance voltage specifications allow long cable runs to drive pump lasers. In addition, this new design brings even greater levels of laser diode protection through an adjustable voltage limit feature. Demanding laser control and testing requirements are met by a new processor coupled with a fast GPIB/IEEE488.2 interface, which comes standard on each mainframe.

Each new "smart" module is powered by its own on-board processor, simplifying future module additions and performance upgrades. Communications and instrument operations are controlled by a separate mainframe processor, paired with a new GPIB chipset that is fully tested to insure IEEE488.2 compliance. This combination of features assures robust communications and rapid data acquisition.
