The MicrOTDR(tm) Optical Fault Locator uses OTDR technology to make accurate
measurements of fiber optic cabling length up to 20 km and to determine the
location of optical events (loss points) caused by connections, splices, and
tight bends. Simple, one-button operation quickly makes all measurements on
either multimode or singlemode fiber optic cabling in less than three
seconds. The MicrOTDR is a low-cost alternative to the expensive and
difficult-to-use mini-OTDR's for checking spooled fiber optic cabling for
length and shipping damage, and for determining the location bad connections
in installed fiber optic links. The MicrOTDR list price is less than 25
percent of the cost of a mini-OTDR.
