The IX7000 core router enables a smooth, effective migration path from
carriers' existing ATM/SDH/SONET networks. It provides a combination of QoS
technology, which NEC has used for a variety of telecom carrier-class
networks, and IP technologies, to offer the world's fastest packet
forwarding capabilities as well as support for various line interfaces.
Features:
- 100Gbps non-blocking hardware switch realizes IP switching/routing.
- Average forwarding rate of 6 million routing decisions per second for 128-byte IPv4 packets.
- Sustained system throughput with five forwarding engines is minimally 30 million packets per second.
- Maximum 150,000 entries for routing table.
- ATM and IP level service-class/service-quality control support on per VP/VC basis, CBR/VBR/UBR for ATM and 4-level TOS priority for IP.
- Upgrades of forwarding performance are independent of line interface cards and slots.
- Full redundancy structure in forwarding engine, power supply and fan unit.
