The Fiber Systems OSW 2000 1x2 and 2x2 Optical Switches are high quality, microprocessor controlled, low loss optical routing switches intended for those applications using fiber rings, dual fiber paths or other networks having redundant fiber feeds in high reliability optical networks. Using patented optical techniques, each optical switch is capable of sensing loss of signal integrity in a primary path and automatically switching to a secondary or redundant path. This prevents loss of signal in high visibility optical networks that require very high reliability.

Each switch employs circuitry that allows the user to automatically configure the device. This eliminates the need for any manual controls from the front panel. Instead, once the switch is connected to the network with the optical signals appropriate for the application, a simple automatic calibration can be initiated from the front panel. Once the device is calibrated for the input levels being used, proper RF and Optical Switch threshold are automatically adjusted according to the users desired switch threshold settings. The Optical and RF threshold settings are accessible from the front of the unit using BCD Thumbwheel switches.
