Details

The Fiber Diverters incorporate discrete optical sense circuitry which continuously monitors the network's power level for attenuation, diverting to a backup fiber or simply turning off the signal when the user's selected diversion point is reached. The Fiber Diverters can be used to prevent network down-time or to eliminate eavesdropping on the fiber. Available for the FibreGuard Monitor & Management System or in a standalone desk or rack mount unit, the devices can be implemented into any optical fiber system including SONET/SDH, ATM, FDDI, and 100BaseFL.

The implementation of self-healing rings and other redundant topologies promise the user a constant data stream. However, many institutions could be catastrophically affected by a problem at a single point of failure from the SONET ring to their building. The Monitor/Management System with a fiber diverter module can prevent loss at a single point of failure or anywhere an added degree of protection is needed by switching between two active data channels. Traffic can be returned to the primary fiber when the level falls back into range.

Application:
• optical network protection
• testing and maintenance
• intrusion/eavesdrop protection
• forced network re-routing

Features:
• manually-configured diversion point
• fast switching time
• extremely durable
• low insertion loss
• custom configurations available
