A feasibility study is the first activity in the development of upgrade plans for an enterprise-wide integrated communication system. Starting with an assessment of present and future needs and an inventory of existing communication facilities, the consultant can prepare a number of alternative solutions. These alternatives are directly related to future voice, data and video requirements, the architecture of the new communications network and the integration of existing facilities and equipment.
The deliverable is a comprehensive document that describes each of the alternative solutions, their time lines, preliminary budgetary costs and cashflow requirements. While the consultant may recommend a particular solution, it is the customer's responsibility to evaluate the various approaches and make the final decision to proceed.
