This 19" Rack-Mountable device is a multiple-channel 100Base-TX/FX Media Converter providing 6 or 12 independent conversion channels housed in a slim 1U chassis. Each individual channel allows network extension over m/m fiber of 2000 m (6600 ft), and up to 150 km (!) over s/m fibers. It is transparent to HDX/FDX transmissions. Furthermore, it generates "FDX advertising" signals to force maximal performance on other - even non managed -network elements, thus enhancing overall network performance. The device is SNMP ready; it is supplied with the management interface included in it. All you need to turn it into a fully managed device is to plug-in the optional FNM1612 management module. This can be done in the field, even without removing the F.CON from the rack. The Fault Propagation mechanism implemented in the device allows network redundancy while the link test capability allows easy maintenance.

Special attention was given to allow easy installation and maintenance: redundant power-supply, directly removable (hot-swap) power-supply, extensive front-panel diagnostics and more. It is factory pre-configured and several F.CON devices can be mixed and stacked to achieve the exact number of channels required while occupying minimal rack-space.
