FiberPlex Elastic Data Buffer(EDB) Systems provide dynamic data storage to absorb small timing differences between synchronous data link nodes. It can be used to absorb cyclical differences such as those caused by the Doppler shift encountered with geosynchronous satellite links. It can also be used to connect nodes with slightly differing clock frequencies with buffer size determining how long it can compensate for the difference.
ED6 systems may be configured in a rack mount chassis with multiple buffer port cards to accommodate several standard electrical interface types such as T1, RS-232, RS-422, RS-449, EIA-530, V.35 and MIL-Std. A synthesizer option is available to clock output data with a known precision source such as a Cesium beam oscillator or GPS receiver. A system controller adds diagnostic, computational and reporting functions. The front panel terminal option provides the user with a convenient means for monitoring and controlling operation.
