configuration. Dynarc Service Manager (DSM) is a standards-based, Java™ management
tool with an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) for advanced, yet easy-to-use
management operations.

When used in conjunction with Dynarc´s family of auto-provisioning routers, the DSM

Flexibility
Dynarc´s management system is designed for the highest possible flexibility. Its standard-based architecture is capable of operating as a stand-alone application, or can be installed and launched from within an SNMP-standard platform, such as HP OpenView™.

Simplified Channel Configuration
Using point-and-click capabilities to view node-level configurations, allows fast and easy provisioning of network resources. The graphical user interface (GUI) enables network managers to easily navigate a nodal tree to view statistics, define packet filters, and configure channel specifications.

The DSM offers forms-based configuration, which allows network managers to simply establish or modify on-screen forms to change node-level parameters, and speeds the accurate deployment of services. In addition, the automated query capabilities in Dynarc´s management system obtain node parameters and present the information in a clear and concise format, giving service providers full control of network resources within the dynamic optical network.

Automatic Topology Detection
Dynarc channel-switch routers support several topologies, including single and multiple rings, point-to-point, and dual bus configurations. Information on the current topology and the individual equipment can be viewed and SNMP traps will be depicted if severe events occur. Optical link failures and faults are displayed on the screen for immediate action and resolution.

Account Management
Dynarc´s Services Manager can be configured to support complete network service inventories by automatically collecting information from Dynarc´s application-aware products. Data collection can be scheduled and specific information collected for a node or an entire network. Scripts can be used to extract detailed information from events, and to generate customized accounting reports that include call duration.

Performance Monitoring
In today´s networking environment, where service level agreements (SLAs) are strictly enforced, channel statistics and performance are critical components to both end users and service providers. Because the DSM allows channel statistics to be continually monitored, accurate, up-to-the-minute information is always available. Trend analysis for efficientnetwork predictions and scalability is easily generated.

Alarm Management
Dynarc´s standards-based design provides monitoring capabilities and allows alarm traps to be set using the standards-based SNMP agent built into the DSM. Service providers can create customized views and alarms to meet specific operational needs. Alarm traps may also be customized to match different SLAs. In addition, a built-in mail notification feature allows off-line monitoring to take place while still providing management capabilities at the highest level.
