CNM System 2
Cable Network Manager (CNM) System 2 provides operators with the power they need to confidently manage advanced two-way broadband networks. CNM is designed to be used with Hybrid Fiber/Coax (HFC) monitoring equipment. CNM System 2 improves the reliability of the broadband plant by:
- identifying problems when and where they occur; maintenance crews go directly to the source of the problem without having to search the system
- identifying trends that indicate potential problems
- providing historical logs of system behavior
- providing system monitoring, control, and testing tools to see how units in your network are operating
- searching for ingress in a systematic manner from the CNM location when used in conjunction with standard test equipment

CNM System 2, a third generation product, incorporates an easy to use interface and powerful data structure to meet your needs now and as your cable plant grows in size and services. New units automatically announce their presence in the network, intelligent agents notify you as problems begin, and a powerful relational database allows enhanced performance tracking. CNM System 2 is interoperable, supporting a variety of standards including: Cable Labs Outside Plant Management, MAC protocol and addressing, and
an SNMP message set. In fact, all products within the CNM System 2 family—headend controller, agents, and software—are designed to support these standards and to be upgradable to accommodate changes.
CNM System 2 software acts as an SNMP proxy, serving as the gateway for thousands of network elements. As operators deploy high speed data services throughout their networks, CNM will integrate seamlessly with SNMP managers for routers, switches, and cable modems.
