Details

Corning Cable Systemsle Systems announces its ALTOS® fiber optic cables are the first dry waterblocked, outside plant cables to meet the stringent requirements of the Rural Utilities Services (RUS) and achieve RUS (PE-90) acceptance. RUS is the federal agency that provides technical guidance on electricity, water, and telecommunications infrastructures for the rural utilities industries. Corning Cable Systemsle Systems' ALTOS dry cables incorporate an innovative waterblocking design that eliminates the need for traditional flooding compound, providing more efficient and craft-friendly cable preparation.

ALTOS cables feature single-layer buffer tubes that are manufactured from a new plastic with excellent flexibility properties. This material enables ALTOS buffer tubes to be more flexible, kink-resistant, and easier to mid-span access making them ideal for installation in smaller, breathable closures typically deployed in broadband networks. In addition, all ALTOS cables include standard 3.0 mm buffer tubes to reduce the number of tools customers need for mid-span fiber access.

Corning Cable Systemsle Systems' ALTOS cables are available in multimode, single-mode and hybrid versions for general purpose outdoor cable applications such as campus backbone, duct, aerial, and direct-buried. These constructions are available in fiber counts from 2 to 288.
