4-Function Amplifier Passive is the first of a family of over 20 new passive components based on a novel planar passives platform. Within this platform up to 6 passive functions (such as isolators, gain flattening filters, pump couplers, tap couplers, telemetry filters and photodiodes) can be built in series using just a single set of input and output collimating lenses. Hence loss reductions on the signal path of more than 1.0 dB can readily be achieved along with a size reduction of more than 50%. The 4 Function Amplifier Passive combines a pump coupler, isolator, 4% tap and telemetry filter in a compact housing measuring just 11x55x5.5 mm.
